Solo exhibition of paintings and two-dimensional mixed media works by French/Dutch artist living in Malaysia. Held at the Valentine Willie Fine Art between 3-25 April 1998, co-sponsored by the French and Dutch Embassies. "[Art museums]...are so much part of our lives today that we forget they have imposed on the spectator a whole new attitude towards the work of art. For they have tended to estrange the works they bring together from their original functions and to transform even portraits into 'pictures'." - quote GAP. It is with this perspective that GAP strives to "resolve the often severed relationship between art and reality," exploring and challenging our perceptions and attitudes towards art representations and presentations. Subtly subversive, GAP's series of paintings are ironic and witty takes on the world of the art establishment. Introduction by Beverly Yong. Biographical details included.
