This exhibition was the result of an artist-in-residence programme at LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts in Singapore. The works presented here represent a decade of Guan Wei’s artistic career. Having moved to Australia in the early 1990s, these works can be seen as the artist’s explorations and adaptations to a foreign culture and environment. He constructs elaborate narratives with which to explore his themes, blending known stories and their visual cues from various cultures, times and places with those of his own invention. The accompanying essays also provide a detailed study of the different stages of Guan Wei’s artistic development. A biography of the artist is included.
