Using brush, ink, colour and paper, and distilling the fundamentals of traditional Chinese painting, Hong Zhu An gives new voice to the language of Chinese ink painting. The works presented in this exhibition catalogue demonstrate how Hong reduces the language of painting into its purest elements of lines and builds an abstract image with colour, stroke and space to convey the sensibility and emotion evoke by traditional Chinese painting. The contributors have pointed out that although the medium deviates from the conventional in subject-matter, the character and flavour of the abstract works of Hong Zhu An remain quintessentially Chinese. A biography of the artist is included in this catalogue.

洪祝安沿用毛筆和水墨設色紙本的形式,再把中國傳統繪畫的元素加以提煉,藉此為中國水墨畫另闢蹊徑。據本圖錄所示,洪祝安把繪畫語言還原為純粹的線條組合,並利用色彩、筆法和空間來構成抽象的圖形,來表達中國傳統繪畫特有的情感和神韻。多篇評論指出,洪祝安的繪畫主題雖與傳統有別, 但其抽象畫中的人物和神韻仍具中國畫的神髓。本圖錄亦載有藝術家的簡歷。
