Catalogue published in conjunction with Zheng Guogu's exhibition at Chambers Fine Art, New York. The idea for the work Hundred-Year-Old Tree Blooms Again grew out his ongoing project The Age of Empire in which Zheng Guogu negotiated the sale of land from a peasant and attempted to legalize the transaction. The current exhibition follows the sequence of events that led to the planting of a massive one hundred year old tree in the courtyard of Chambers Fine Art Beijing in September 2007. The negotiation, purchase, removal and transportation of the tree from a village outside Tianjin to Beijing on a flat-bed truck and the precarious lowering into the prepared hole is the subject of photographs, videos and a series of paintings. Includes Foreword by Christophe W. Mao. Artist biography included.
