Drawn from an extensive research into the life and work of the late Turkish artist and writer, Huseyin Bahri Alptekin through books, ephemera and artworks left behind after his death in 2007, this publication is the first monograph published on the artist.
'I AM NOT A STUDIO ARTIST features a selection of Alptekin's own writings, published and unpublished interviews, as well as texts by Michel Foucault, Vasıf Kortun, Michel Oren, Sabine Vogel and Tirdad Zolghadr. Edited by Duygu Demir of SALT Research and Programs and reflecting the comprehensive archival research undertaken, the publication gives a sense of Alptekin’s intellectual interests, his correspondence, and follows the themes that informed his artistic practice. The publication is rich in texts as well as in visual content. The graphic designer of the publication is Vahit Tuna, a close friend of Alptekin’s, which also reflects the personal approach of the project.' - from publisher's website.
Includes three interviews with the artist by Vasif Kortun, a conversation between the artist and Evrim Altug, and e-mail exchanges between Alptekin and Tirdad Zolghadr. With artist biography.
