This is the second major exhibition of contemporary Chinese paintings in the 1980s, organised by the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasedena, California. Drawing examples from 'New Wave' and 'Avant-Garde' paintings since 1985, and covering a wider geographical area which includes Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Wuhan and Changsha, the organiser intends to present a realistic view of how far contemporary Chinese painting had gone since the euphoria of the early Eighties and the Tiananmen protest of 1989.
