Previously published in the New York Times as "Where Tradition Has Ruled, a Home for Contemporary Art, "  The International Herald Tribune version follows three days later with a slightly different title and photograph:  Mr. Anupam Poddar and his mother Lekha Poddar have separately collected art for the last 30 years.  Lekha Poddar has collected an estimated 5,000 folk and tribal pieces while Anupam Poddar has roughly 2,000 contemporary pieces.  Mr. Poddar's first acquisition in 1999 was a life-size pink fiberglass cow by Subodh Gupta.  They will exhibit part of their collection in the new 7,500 square foot space of the Devi Art Foundation, founded by Mr. Poddar.  Located in an office tower in the suburb of Gurgaon, New Delhi, Devi is a noncommerical, nonprofit exhibition space for contemporary art from India and the subcontinent.  In effect, it is India's first contemporary art museum.
