This catalogue is published in conjunction with the presentation of three Japanese artists at the 6th Triennale India 1986. Commissioner Hideki Nakamura writes, ' The installations of Mr. Koichi Ebizuka are often seen as wooden structures but are better grasped as "Paradoxical Non-Western European 'Constructions'." The earthworks of Mr. Toshikatsu Endo, along with his photography displays and three dimensional art, mark out a definitive statement about existence by "Taking a Fixed Look at Bits and Pieces of Practical Objects." And as for the works of our woman artist, Ms. Kaoru Hirabayashi, the view has been expressed that these relief forms, with their use of Japanese writing motifs, present a "Free and Unconventional View that Takes Us to a Deeper Level Where the Historical and Personal Are Unified."'

Artists' biographies are provided. With texts by Hideki Nakamura.
