This book was published to mark Kim Hong Joo's solo exhibition of the same title at Arko Art Center, Seoul, from 30 October to 2 December 2009. Early in his career in the 1970s, Kim became known for the hyperreal technique he employed in 'object paintings' that merged real objects with their images. In the 1990s, he progressed to painting furrows or lumps of soil in arrangements that resembled Chinese calligraphic script and in recent years, to vast paintings of flowers and 'lumpy landscapes' that seem to proliferate endlessly. Includes an essay by curator Kim Hyoung Mi. With artist biography. Interview and selected bibliography provided in Korean only.
