This monograph features Frank Vigneron's on-going project entitled Le Songe Creux, with Heterotopias as its sub-theme. The concept of heterotopias was originally developed by Michel Foucault as a comprehensive classification of principles aimed at understanding how different cultures settle boundaries for different kinds of ritual and cultural usages. The artist wrote, 'There are several ways to create heterotopias in the rather artificial environment of the gallery. By trying to apply the six principles of heterotopias to a set of large objects, it will be possible to give back at least a measure of spirituality to an installation of art objects. I will title these two projects 'a room with a view' and 'the library' and will explain how I came to create them with my drawings at their core.'
