This publication is produced in occasion of the solo exhibition of Taiwan-born, New York-based artist, Lee Mingwei, at Mori Art Museum of the same title held from September 2014 to January 2015.
Having been exhibiting internationally for a period of twenty years, the artist is showing many participatory projects he has been working for many years. The focus of the exhibition is then put on how Lee establishes relations with the audience through his participatory artworks. Several essays contextualise Lee's works in a large context of socially engaged art prominent throughout the 1990s, explicates how these works connect to wider society and its issues, and explore the sociological meanings of these projects. Furthermore, artworks and quotes from artists, religious personnels, and thinkers relevant to the exhibition are also shown.
