Lien Chien-Hsing is a Taiwanese artist who started painting in the 1970s when he still was a student. Since his graduation in 1984, he has been vigorously presenting new works at museums and galleries on the island and internationally. Much influenced by surrealistic practices in the West, his paintings contain utter stillness with a mystery-like feeling. He started working on so-called ‘magical realistic’ paintings in the 1990s. In this exhibition, he showed paintings mostly from 2001. The catalogue includes short artist statement and a biography in both Chinese and English.
