This catalogue is published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Medicine and Art: Imagining a Future for Life and Love — Leonardo da Vinci, Okyo, Damien Hirst' held in Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, from November 2009 - February 2010. The exhibition brings together important medical artifacts from the Wellcome Collection, historical art works from Western Europe and Japan, and international contemporary art, and is a unique attempt to reconsider the fundamental question of the meaning of 'life and death' and 'love' from the parallel yet rarely compared perspectives of medicine and art, or science and beauty.
