This book is published for the exhibition 'The Fitting Room' by Mella Jaarsma at the National Gallery, Jakarta from 27 October - 8 November 2009 and at Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung from 14 November - 6 December 2009. It presents a comprehensive picture of Mella Jaarsma's artistic journey of 25 years of living and working in Indonesia. Much of her work deals with the issue of body coverings and its relationship to cultural identity, often taking the form of costumes or wearable sculptures, installations and performances.
