This books gives a visitor to Manila a general overview of the city, but is not a typical guidebook. Photographs by Miguel Trillo accompany a narrative by Gabriel Diaz as he experiences the city. Diaz finds Manila a city of extremes—dynamic, chaotic, peaceful, beautiful and ugly. His journey includes stops and digressions on monuments, Karaoke, Jeepneys, shoes, Imelda Marcos, film, Makati, the gay scene, fashion, the Chinese population, music and the arts. This publication is the product of a joint venture between Spain and the Philippines, produced thanks to the Jaime Gil de Biedma Fellowship for Spanish and Filipino creators in conjunction with the book Filipinas. Arte, identidad y discurso posocolonial.
