This material was publlished in conjunction with the exhibition of the same title. As mentioned in the foreword by the organizers, this exhibition examines the modernism in the area of Rokko Mountains located in between Osaka and Kobe. The area became very ppopular among the rich merchants in Osaka from the latter half of the 19th century, therefore resulted in a rapid development of culture. The exhibition aims at examining the culture from multiple points of view, such as literature, art, architecture, life style and entertainment.A chronology and a bibliography are available at the end.
