This is the catalogue for contemporary Thai artist Montien Boonma's solo exhibition which travelled to Tokyo and Fukuoka from 1991-1992. In his installations presented here, one finds the artist's fondness of original materials such as clay, soil, ash, sand and charcoal. Indeed, as Boonma writes in his message, he looks for materials and objects in his rural surroundings. They are not only affordable but provide him with inspirations in his artistic creation: the content and the form of his works are derived from the physical properties and the abstract symbolism of the material itself. An artist biography is included.
