This publication is produced in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok, in celebration of the would-be 60th birthday of Thai artist Montien Boonma (1953-2000). The exhibition is the result of a collaborative mission begun in 2010 by the Jim Thompson Art Center, the Thai Art Archives, and the Estate of Montien Boonma to review the legacy of the artist by recovering and introducing to the public over 60 drawings, archival ephemera, and select video footage rarely or never before exhibited. In particular, the exhibition focuses on ephemera, sketches, and drawings pertaining to Boonma's 'unbuilt' projects, in cooperation with Hans Ulrich Obrist, who has previously argued for the historic importance of artists' unfinished, or unrealised work.
