The Silpathorn Awards are awarded by the Culture Ministry's Office of Contemporary Arts and Culture (OCAC) as a means of promoting and supporting mid-career contemporary Thai artists.   Three winners came from the field of visual arts: conceptual/installation artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, female artist Pinaree Sapitak and activist artist Vasan Sitthiket. Other winners included filmmaker Thunska Pansittivorakul, writer Siriworn Kaewkan, composer Narong Prangcharoen, and performer Nimit Pipithkul.  Each winner receives Bt100,00 and a Sipathorn pin made of white gold, diamonds and emeralds.  The award presentation and exhibition is schedulted for September 6, 2007 at the Queen's Gallery on Rajadamnoen Klang Road.
