Recent advances in computer technology have irrevocably altered the way we perceive the world, allowing places and people to be inserted into or removed from images and realistically creating new forms and landscapes on television and movie screens. Paul Pfeiffer's videos, photographs, and sculptures address the many problematic aspects of present and future worlds dominated by these astonishing revolutions. His transformation of images and objects from televised sporting events, fashion photography, and Hollywood movies prompts us to reconsider conventional attitudes about issues of the body, race, identity, and architectural space in contemporary society.

This catalogue is published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Paul Pfeiffer' at the MIT List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
