The booklet was published in conjunction with Leung Meeping's 2014 solo exhibition Pearl River Delta Series I: Made in Hong Kong. In Valerie C. Doran's short essay 'Re-Souvenir', she writes; 'Leung Mee Ping first conceived of the Made in Hong Kong project in 2006' when 'Hong Kong's souvenir painting trade, like so many other small Hong Kong industries, had largely moved over the border, eventually evolving into the Dafen zone of production... Leung Mee Ping asked a question: If Mainland tourists were coming to Hong Kong, but souvenir paintings were being made in Shenzhen, then who would produce the Hong Kong souvenir paintings that would reflect the gaze of these Mainland Chinese tourists? Leung Mee Ping decided to invent these paintings herself.'
