Catalogue of the exhibition 'Photography Today 4: in Their Persistent Endeavors to Meet the World' at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo from June to July 2012. This is the fourth exhibition in the series that explores the present situation of photography through remarkable work of young and mid-career photographers. New works by five Japanese photographers are featured in the exhibition.

'In Japanese photography circles, galleries run by photographers themselves have developed diverse activities since the 1970s. Recent years have seen a resurgence of the trend that is attracting rising attention. Noteworthy activities are appearing one after another also in the forms of photo books and booklets called “zine.” Many of them are independently produced.
