Commemorative publication issued in conjunction with the official presentation of the Prince Claus Award to the artist on December 15, 1998. A limited edition of 750 copies were printed. Piyadasa was the first Malaysian to receive this international award. Inspired by the artifact quality of old photographs, Piyadasa transforms these old images into works of art by various means of artistic manipulation; including silkscreen process, collage and paint. Although reasserting the superficial flatness of the image, by doing so, he also manages to reaffirm the individuality and personality of his subjects, as well injecting a sense of contemporaneity. Introduction by Dr. Rod. Paras-Perez. Biographical information provided.
