Bringing together artists from China and various Southeast Asian countries, the exhibition ‘Polypolis: Art from the Asian Pacific Megacities’ and this catalogue aimed at promoting a closer cultural dialogue between Asia and the European art scene. The accompanying essays study the development of contemporary art in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand in their respective social and cultural context. Brief biographies of the participating artists are included.
