Zheng Guogu is considered to be one of the most outstanding members of a new generation of Chinese artists whose careers developed after the well-known avant-garde movement of the 1980s, and who are endowed with ideas, values and a new language inspired by mass culture and new technologies. Critical essays by Hu Fang and Gutierrez + Portefaix together with a photographic portrait offer contrasting views of this multifaceted artist. Zheng's biography is provided.
