Born in Nanjing, China in 1960 and moved to Germany in the 1980s, the main focus of the art of Ren Rong is the figure of the plant people, a combination of hermaphroditic, floral and human forms, which the artist has developed over the years. He presents the figure in different media, and the most popular of which is paper cutting. The works featured in this solo exhibition catalogue, produced in 2003 and 2004, are presented in the so-called 'photo cuttings' in which the hallmark of the artist, the plant people, as well as images of Tiananmen, Beijing become the artist's subject matter. Artist's biography is included. With preface by Yu Minteh, President of Providence University Art Center.
