Stemming from a conference organised by the Department of Creative Writing, Hong Kong Baptist University, concerning the cultural imaginations of Asia in the age of globalisation, this publication looks at the cultural concept of Asia and how such a conceptualisation manifests in different cultural forms and geographical contexts. Essays contained in the anthology detail the history of the idea of Asia, the meaning of Asianism for different countries in the region, and how these peoples negotiate their own cultural identity under this overarching framework, among other themes and topics.
