The publication is produced on the occasion of touring solo exhibition of Chinese artist Liu Kuo-Sung held in National Museum of History, Taipei, Museum of Contemporary Art, Singapore, National Museum of Jakarta, Indonesia and National Art Gallery Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from October 2014 to May 2015.

Liu Kuo-Sung's richly expressive artistic language is heavily influenced by Confucian, Buddhist and Daoist thinking, putting great emphasis on the balance between man and nature. He challenges clear divisions between 'tradition' and 'modernity', 'east' and 'west', and 'Mainland China' and 'Taiwan'. The thinking leads him to constantly experiment with various painting techniques and to explore abstract forms to create an artistic form that is at once both Chines and modern, and to present and artistic realm in which the freely roams.
