Siu2La3Ba1 intends to document protest songs in the Anti-ELAB Movement in 2019. It examines the role of music as an agent that enriches and complicates the texture of social activism. The zine is divided into four parts. The first, ‘Dreaming Special Playlist’ highlights 10 songs that have displayed pivotality across sites of protest. ‘Insomnia Playlist’ gives mention to 6 songs that despite having a rarer presence in situ, usually signal various turn of events. Wrapping up the zine are ‘Hidden Tracks’ and an interview with Hong Kong-based musician, actor, and activist Wong Hinyan. The selected songs are accompanied by key visuals from news reports and Telegram campaign designs, and are each linked to the corresponding video documentation from the protests.
