Catalogue of joint exhibition at Tang Contemporary Art, Beijing in 2006. The title of the exhibition 'Surplus Value' is a reference on the concept created by Karl Marx. It is used as a kind of metaphor, asking for the surplus value of art itself. By presenting works of five contemporary Chinese artists, the exhibition explores what makes contemporary art attractive if one eliminates outer factors such as international and official recognition and the art market. Artist biographies are included in the catalogue.
