Published in conjunction with the retrospective exhibition of Tadashi Tonoshiki (1942-1992) at Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art in 2017, this catalogue documents Tonoshiki's life and artistic career, providing a full observation of the changes in style, practice and subject matter in Tonoshiki's work since he became a professional artist at the age of 29 in 1971.

The catalogue is mainly divided into five sections, presented in chronological order according to significant moments in his life or shift in artistic practice. Each section opens with an overview of the designated period, with colour plates of works, images of letters, or exhibition-related material. Tonoshiki began to create large-scale installation works in the 1980s, with the public often being invited to participate in the creation. Photo documentation, images of sketchbooks and idea development of these works are provided in the last section.

Includes essays by Teraguchi Junji and Takeshi Matsuoka. Chronology of the artist, bibliography and list of works provided.
