Nine disenchanted young painters who had made a great impression at the old Imperial Exhibition (Genichiro Inokuma, Masayoshi Ise, Iwao Uchida, Ryohei Koiso, Kei Sato, Yasushi Santa, Makoto Suzuki, Toshio Nakanishi and Kazu Wakita) began a quest for freedom and purity in the arts by establishing the Shinseisakuha Kyokai (Association for Creators of New Artistic Works) with the support from their teacher Takeji Fujishima..., described by Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma of Museum of Contemporary Art.

This catalogue showcases works of Shinseisakuha Kyokai, which is published in conjunction with the second anniversary of the opening of the Marugame Genichiro Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art.

Artists' biographies and list of works included.
