The publication of this monograph coincided with the exhibition of T'ang Haywen at Musée Guimet, Paris in 2002. T'ang, who passed away in 1991, was among the second generation of Chinese artists who studied and eventually stayed in Paris to continue his artistic pursuit. During his long career in France, ink remained T'ang's major tool of expression. The different traits of creativity are conveyed through his paintings, which range from figuration to abstraction. This richly illustrated monograph offers a comprehensive review of the art of T'ang Haywen and a detailed chronology of his life. Lists of exhibitions, publications and collections are included. Please note that a supplement with Japanese translations of the essays is also available.
