This publication is produced on the occasion of group exhibition of the same title held in Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai from June to July 2011.

Chinese culture never lacks an appreciation of abstraction. Allusions used in art writings, such as calligraphic lines like 'water stains on the wall', show that abstraction originates in the creation of Heaven and Earth, in social life, in the imitation and the mastery of nature. Art works displayed in the exhibition are all created around the theme of 'abstraction', presenting audience with a comprehensive picture of the artists' perception of 'abstraction' in Chinese art.

Including artist biographies and plates of art works.
