This catalogue accompanies the 50th anniversary exhibition of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, whose aim is to establish a permanent collection illustrating the history of modern Japanese art.  The exhibition consists of 11 chapters to introduce the Musuem's activities in exhibiting and collecting over the past 50 years.  This catalogue includes curatorial notes on each chapter, list of works, chronology, and plates of select works.
