APT5 includes around 270 works by 37 individual artists, filmmakers and performers, as well as two multi-artist projects. Highlights includes numerous commissioned works by artists such as Ai Weiwei (China), Dinh Q Lê (Vietnam) and eX de Medici (Australia), as well as the Triennial's strongest representation of Pacific artists to date.
Doug Hall wrote, 'The APT continues its successful model of selecting individual artists rather thatn taking on an approach of national representation; with many artists now working in places other than their country of origin - their location and the culture with which they might most closely identify, and the influences that shape their art, become less clear. The APT cannot, therefore, only represent art that is defined by national or geographical borders.'
Images of works in the present catalogue are accompanied by individual short essays by scholars, art critics or curators. Artist biographies are also included.
