The publication is produced on the occasion of group exhibition of the same title held in Delhi Art Gallery, New Delhi from January to March 2012.
The book documents 401 works by 104 artists of great significance to Bengal art, as well as essays that review the authors' own and current perceptions about Bengal art. Although the artists introduced do not all form a part of the Delhi Art Gallery collection, it is with a sense of awe at the achievements of the artists of Bengal art, hoping to serve as rigorous and selective documentation as a point of future reference.
Including artist and author profiles, a bibliography and an art index.
