'In her latest work, renowned Jingdezhen and Shanghai based artist Caroline Cheng, builds on the porcelain traditions of the past. Her Prosperity series features robes made of thousands of tiny handmade porcelain butterflies sewn onto burlap – a play on the Chinese word for clothing,fu, which echoes the word for prosperity. Cheng’s reinvention of the tradition of tea drinking features in her wood-fired stoneware pieces, each with a porcelain slip to capture more of the tea flavour.' - from Sotheby's website.
