Art in Taiwan underwent important qualitative changes during the Japanese Occupation Period (1895-1945), both in terms of an enhanced sense of patriotic resistance to the Japanese and in terms of artistic creativity. Above all, Tung-Yang Painting in that era occupies a pivotal point in over three centuries of traditional Chinese Painting. In this paper, it is intended to explore developmental trends in traditional Chinese Painting by referencing Tung-Yang painting in Taiwan.
