This book is published in conjunction with the opening exhibitions at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

It is argued in this publication that the rebellious spirit in the current Chinese art is an extension of Mao's legacy. In the article by Jiang Jiehong, the use of the colour red, the iconography of Mao, the sense of the collective and the use of language in texts that derive from the calligraphy of the propaganda poster and are used in contemporary art are discussed.
