This is the catalogue of Gao Xingjian’s third solo exhibition at Alisan Fine Arts (Hong Kong). Specialising in painting with the traditional Chinese medium of black ink on rice paper, Gao’s apparently simple brushstrokes build up a pictorial atmosphere which is poetic, silent and serene. This catalogue also includes a passage on Gao Xingjian’s works by Michael Sullivan and a biography of the artist.
