Catalogue published in conjunction with 'The Tropics: Views from the Middle of the Globe', an exhibition of pre-modern and contemporary art from tropical regions around the world. The show was previously presented in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and Berlin before travelling to the Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok from March to June 2010. Ranking among the most important in the world, exhibits from the collections of the Ethnological Museum in Berlin from Africa, Asia, Oceania and tropical America are juxtaposed with works by contemporary artists from South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Artist biographies provided. Other participating artists are Pilar Albarracin, Marcos Chaves, Theo Eshetu, Marcel Odenbach and Thomas Struth.
