This collection of new writing which provides critical perspectives on the history and future of the art of Asia as it traverses national and regional lines, and sets out what is at stake in the staging of this major on-going art programme. It shows Manchester's deep global connections, industrial past and migratory experience are reconfigured in the present by engaging new publics in the city, and the diverse ways that triennial culture may serve to inaugurate the city itself. It also explores how the process of localizing Asia in Manchester contributes to transformations in art and urban space, and the global development of biennial and triennial culture at large.' - from back cover.
