This is a book written on the two leading international Chinese artists, Cai Guoqiang and Xu Bing. It traces the lives and works of the artists, as well as presents a documentation of a joint-exhibition entitled When Heaven and Earth Meet, held at Bard College, New York, in 1998, curated by Zhang Zhaohui.

Artists' biographies and a selected bibliography are provided. With afterword by Pan Kongkai, President of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
