This catalogue is published on the occasion of Guo Fengyi's exhibition, featuring the artist's intricate drawings inspired by mysticism and the philosophy of I Ching. Guo Fengyi is considered to be an 'Outsider artist' as she did not receive any formal art training. Johnson Chang wrote in his essay, 'Guo started to draw after practicing qi-gong for health; during these meditiative states she experienced special visions that were put down on paper. Much of the subject matter of her drawings, as well as the concepts and physical structures she uses come form traditional Chinese philosophy, myths and medicine.
