Solo exhibition of works by Malaysian artist, Wong Perng Fey, held at the Valentine Willie Fine Art, 17 June - 3 July 2004. Wong's paintings and charcoal drawings are semi-abstract impressionistic interpretations of the landscape around him. Often close-up framings of a 'sea' of foliage with barely a trace of a tree branch or building to give the viewer a sense of perspective, distance and familiarity, Wong's images are all light, shade and colour, charging the images with emotional quality. Includes an essay by Noor Mahnun Mohamed and Beverly Yong (from a conversation with the artist) and biographical information.
