Zoo is a gorgeous menagerie of animals in art. Divided into themes, from atavistic jungle to bovine farmyard, it covers every habitat and features animals in the wild, on the hearth, at work and at play, or just simply being. A wide selection of work in a vast array of media has been chosen, from both classic and contemporary artists. As well as over 300 portrayals of animals, Zoo includes insight into the paintings, short biographies of the artists, and a selection of prose and poetry on the animal theme. Includes examples taken from Asian art.
