Photologue | Emerging Talents: Mumbai, May–Jun 2008

Introducing some new faces of Indian contemporary art to spectators. This photologue features works by Hindol Brahmbhatt and Prajjwal Choudhury, both based in Baroda, a collaborative installation by Enith Perez and Srinivas Mangipudi, and also some new discoveries from the 'Bodhi Art Award 2008 Show': Shreyas Karle, Sandip Pisalkar, Nazima Rangwala, Debanan Sasmal, Boshudhara Mukherjee, Nilanjan Banerjee and Vandana Dhasmana.

Hindol's 'A Moment in Time', was organized by the Institute of Contemporary Indian Art, and took place in May 2008. Stylistically, his works are unique amalgamation of blow-torch carving and painting techniques, and strike an interesting balance between wood and canvas. Prajjwal's 'Drift', was organized by Project 88 in June 2008. His works are influenced by Pop art and repeatedly play around with and juxtapose the basic forms of bottle, matchbox and wooden English alphabets. Enith's and Srinivas's 'Many in Body ― One in Mind', was organized by Priyasri Art Gallery in June 2008, and includes the work The Fibonacci Series, a photography-based installation on the theory of life. Finally, the 'Bodhi Art Award 2008 Show' in July gave recognition and a platform to eleven new contenders.
