LIKE A FEVER

Photologue | Manila, 3–22 Jan 2008

Painting remains the dominant artform in Manila. Photorealism, in particular, is often used to represent the darker side of the city, while sustaining the debate between painting and photography. Conceptual art and other process-oriented works, on the other hand, have a strong presence, further boosted by the opening of new art spaces dedicated to showing more progressive work. Overall, a good start of the year for the Philippines!
