Photologue | What's Happening in the Pearl River Delta, Jun 2008

‘Wu Shanzhuan, But Still Red, Red Humour International’, in collaboration with Inga Svala Thorsdottir, Thor's Daughter's Pulverization Service, at the Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, 21 June – 27 July 2008. Curated by Guo Xiaoyan , Johnson Chang Tsongzung and Gao Shiming , this is a major retrospective of one of the 1980s New Wave group of artists from China. The show highlights Wu Shanzhuan’s clever use of language and subversion of ideology in a career that spans over twenty years.

‘Symptom: A Large Stage Work by Wang Jianwei’ at the OCT Contemporary Art Terminal of He Xiangning Art Museum, Shenzhen, 28 June – 28 July 2008. Curated by Huang Zhuan, the exhibition shows the recent stage works by renowned multimedia artist Wang Jianwei. Along with the exhibition, a conference entitled ‘Overlapping Field of Vision: a Cross-cutting Practice of Contemporary Art’ was held at the He Xiangning Art Museum on 29 June 2008. Over 20 art professionals and media editors from the Pearl River Delta were invited to speak on the panel.
